What LingoPress does
LingoPress turns your WordPress site into a site in several languages. Each post and page has a version in every language, each language has its own web address (/es/ for Spanish, /en/ for English…), and your visitors switch languages with one click.
If you want, an artificial intelligence (AI) translates for you. You review each translation before it goes live.
What you can do with it
Section titled “What you can do with it”- Have your site in as many languages as you need. You add them from a list, and LingoPress sets up the web addresses on its own.
- Translate with AI in one click, or many posts at once while you keep working. Each translation is saved as a draft for you to review.
- Translate by hand if you prefer: LingoPress makes a copy of the post in the other language and keeps both linked.
- Find out when a translation is out of date. If you change the original, LingoPress marks its translations so you can update them.
- Translate categories, tags and images, and, if your theme is a block theme, its header, footer and templates.
- Add a language switcher wherever you want: in the header, in a menu or in a sidebar.
- Be found on Google in every language. LingoPress tells search engines which version to show each person, with nothing for you to set up.
- Bring your site over from Polylang without redoing anything.
An AI that understands what it translates
Section titled “An AI that understands what it translates”Most automatic translators work sentence by sentence and get words with more than one meaning wrong. Before translating, LingoPress gives the AI the whole post, a description of your site and your own rules for certain words.
For example, the Spanish word muñeca can mean wrist or doll. On a fitness blog, the AI translates it as wrist, because it knows what your site is about.
The AI only translates the text your visitors read. Bold text, images, buttons and links stay exactly where they were.
What it costs
Section titled “What it costs”LingoPress is free and complete: there’s no paid version, no license key and nothing locked.
The AI is the only thing that can cost money, and you pay for it to the company that provides it, not to LingoPress:
- With WordPress (Connectors), on WordPress 7.0 or later, you use the AI service connected to your site, under that service’s terms.
- With your own key from Claude, Gemini, OpenAI or GroqCloud, each company charges according to its prices.
Without AI, LingoPress costs nothing at all.
What it translates, and what it doesn’t
Section titled “What it translates, and what it doesn’t”LingoPress handles posts, pages, categories and tags in every language. It can also translate images and files (if you turn it on), your theme’s templates (with block themes) and the short texts your theme or plugins make available for translation.
Out of the box it does not handle:
- Other types of content created by other plugins, such as shop products or events. Whoever builds your site can enable them (see For developers).
- What you write in SEO plugins such as Yoast SEO or Rank Math (the SEO title and the description for Google). Write those yourself in each translation.
Who makes it
