Introduction

What is LingoPress

LingoPress turns your WordPress site into a site in several languages. Each piece of content exists once for each language, and those versions stay linked to one another as translations. On top of that, each language has its own web address (URL): /es/ for Spanish, /en/ for English, and so on for the rest.

On that foundation, LingoPress adds what makes it special: automatic translation with artificial intelligence (AI) that reads and understands all your content before translating. And always with a person reviewing before publishing.

The problem it solves

The usual multilingual plugins give you the structure, but translating is still manual work. Or they force you to go through automatic translation services that translate sentence by sentence, without understanding the context, and charge extra on top of that. The result? Terms that change from one page to the next, words with a double meaning translated wrong, and many hours spent fixing things.

LingoPress translates with state-of-the-art AI models (Claude, Gemini, GPT, Llama). Before it starts, it gives the AI a set of instructions that require it to read everything: the full content, your site’s description, and your list of custom terms. That way, a word with a double meaning like “muñeca” is translated as wrist (the body part) on your fitness blog, and not as doll (the toy), because the AI knows what your site and your article are about.

The three pillars

1. A solid multilingual foundation

LingoPress uses the way WordPress already stores things, without inventing strange structures under the hood (it’s the same approach proven at scale by Polylang). This gives you concrete advantages: you can export and import your site with the usual tools, and you get everything you’d expect from a site in several languages: the tags that tell Google which version to show in each language, a language switcher, per-language menus, translatable images and files, and connection with other tools. And it works fully without any AI key: the artificial intelligence is an extra, not a requirement.

2. An AI that understands context

  • It reads all the content before translating the first word.
  • It knows your site: its name, its description, and the “site context” you write (what you do, your custom terms).
  • It respects your glossary: fixed translation rules that take priority over the AI’s judgment.
  • It keeps the formatting and design of your content intact: bold text, images, buttons, links, and everything else stay exactly as they were.
  • Nothing is published on its own: each translation arrives as a draft linked to its original, so that a person can review it and publish it.

3. Good ranking on Google, built in

LingoPress comes with everything needed for search engines to understand your site, out of the box and without separate modules: it tells Google which version to show in each language so people find you properly, it reroutes to the correct version when someone arrives with an address in the wrong language, it builds a site map (sitemap) with the addresses of all the languages, and it gives each language its own web address. And one decision made on purpose: it does not redirect based on the browser’s language, because that confuses search engines and hurts your chances of being found.

Feature summary

  • Unlimited languages, each with its own web address, set up automatically.
  • One post per language, all linked together as a group of translations.
  • AI translation: one at a time from the editor, or many at once with a queue that works in the background.
  • Four AI providers to choose from: Claude (Anthropic), Gemini (Google), OpenAI, and GroqCloud.
  • Detection of translations that have become outdated, with re-translation in one click.
  • Glossary of terms and site context to guide the AI.
  • The tags that tell Google which version to show in each language, and a site map (sitemap) in all languages.
  • A language switcher to place wherever you like: as a block, with a short code you paste into the page (shortcode), as a widget, as a menu item, or from code.
  • Per-language menus and widgets that appear only in the languages you choose.
  • Translatable images and files that share the same real file (without taking up twice the disk space).
  • Translation of the loose text strings in your themes and plugins.
  • Optional syncing of data between translations.
  • Full connection with other tools (external apps or services) to read your content and filter it by language.
  • Importer from Polylang included.

Who it’s for

  • Content creators who want to publish in several languages without writing everything twice.
  • Shops and businesses that need their terms to be exact and always the same in each language.
  • Agencies and developers looking for a clean way to connect their own tools to the plugin.
  • Those coming from Polylang who want to add AI and good ranking without rebuilding their site: the importer brings over the languages, the content, and the links between translations.
